A letter from IPPNWC regarding the appointment of Mr. Pierre Tremblay as President of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission

The International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War Canada (Canadian affiliate of IPPNW, Nobel peace prize 1985) has recently wrote and sent an email to Honourable Mr. Trudeau, Mr. Singh, Mr. Poilievre, and Ms. May, as a response to Mr. Tremblay's recent appointment.

This letter raises concerns about the CNSC's bias towards the nuclear industry over public health, with the CNSC prioritizing industry interests rather than the health of Canadians. The International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War Canada emphasizes the need for independent health reviews of nuclear practices, highlighting the historical and ongoing conflict of interest within regulatory bodies.

IPPNWC calls for Mr. Tremblay's replacement with an individual who has less ties to the nuclear industry and some health expertise and advocates for a review by the Public Health Agency of Canada to ensure transparency and the prioritization of public health.
