IPPNWC Committees
Led by a team of IPPNWC Board Members, committees work to achieve specific goals that support IPPNWC purposes. The committees will address and coordinate action on the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW), Nuclear Power, Media and Communications, and Education.
Any active member can join an IPPNWC Committee - membership is not limited to Board members!
Nuclear Power Committee
The Nuclear Power committee examines the links between nuclear weapons and nuclear power, while also looking at the health, racial and environmental implications of uranium mining, nuclear power and unsolved issues of nuclear waste. We also study and suggest sustainable energy alternatives. For those who wish to learn along with us about these issues, this is a group for you.
TPNW Committee
(Treaty on the Prohibition on Nuclear Weapons)
IPPNWC’s Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) Committee focuses on educational and public engagement efforts around the treaty and having the Canadian government join 68 other states in signing onto this treaty and banning nuclear weapons. We simultaneously work on on national efforts while supporting local action to raise awareness about the treaty. The TPNW working group supports activities such as the ICAN Cities Appeal, The Back from the Brink Campaign and educational workshops and action oriented events on the treaty.
Media and Communications
This group will work on addressing IPPNWC's advocacy through traditional forms of media as well as social media. This group develops the media strategies necessary to promote IPPNWC programs and objective, and regularly partners with other organizations to spread our message further.
Education
This group works to address the importance of education in IPPNWC’s programs and purposes. This involves both internal education, and external education in the form of curriculum development and workshops.
