Urgent Call to Action: Write to and Meet with Your Representative Parliamentarians This Week!

IPPNW Canada has a powerful opportunity this month to bring the urgent issue of nuclear disarmament to the forefront of Canadian politics. We have been invited by physician parliamentarians to host a special event to educate parliamentarians (both health and non-health professionals) on The Health Imperative of Nuclear Disarmament. The event will feature IPPNW Canada’s President, John Guilfoyle, board member Dr. Nancy Covington, and Executive Director Lia Holla, alongside renowned international experts such as Dr. Ira Helfand from IPPNW, Aigerim S., a third-generation survivor of nuclear testing from Kazakhstan, and Florian Eblenkamp from ICAN, who will be flying in from Geneva.

But we can’t do this alone. We need your help to make this event impactful.

Parliamentarians are faced with many pressing issues, and they need to know that members in their community, such as yourself care about nuclear disarmament. Request that they take leadership on this critical issue and attend the event (official invite linked here)

Below you can find templates for letters and communications, and additional informationthat you can use to show your support.

The Nuclear threat is the highest it's ever been. In light of rapid changes worldwide, this work is more important than ever. At this pivotal moment, we have a choice: to give up and say, “We can’t do it,” or to double down work together to have Canada take leadership for global survival.

IPPNW Canada is working tirelessly to break through the political storm that threatens sustainability and justice and your support makes a difference. Let’s advocate for Canada to lead internationally in nuclear disarmament!

Our goal is to inspire and reinvigorate movement within Parliament to press for concrete steps toward disarmament and call on Canada to observe the 3rd meeting of state parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW). Education is a key step to building momentum, and your voice can help ensure MPs understand the full weight of these issues.

If you'd like to support these efforts further, please consider making a donation to help fund our ongoing work and initiatives.

Thank you for your ongoing support!
